The DC Allen StepIC SC1888xx range of stepper motor controllers, when used in conjunction with a compatible driver, provide flexible control of stepper motors with minimum processor overhead. They are designed to interface directly with full-step, half-step or microstepping drivers and operate from a 5 Volt or 3.3 Volt power supply.

The SC188801 is able to generate step pulse trains at up to 30kHz and is controlled by means of an SPI serial interface. As well as standard acceleration and deceleration modes, the SC188801 command set allows for the programming of arbitrary speed profiles.

The SC188803 is similar to the SC188801, but allows step tables of up to 204 entries to be programmed, where more complex step profiles are required.

The SC188804 is a dual stepper controller, allowing two motors to be driven independently. Maximum step rate for this device is 20kHz.
